bbp AdminIf your genitals have been damaged, stay out of church: “He that is wounded in the stones, or hath his privy member cut off, shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord.”(Deuteronomy 23:1).

bbp AdminLet me just say here that God’s way is not man’s way and that God has the perfect understanding of everything (Isaiah 55:8-9). And in Romans 11:33, we read that we just how wise and full of wisdom God is and that we will never know of his righteous judgements and ways. Romans 8:28, All things through the Lord work together for the good. Jeremiah 29:11, states that He is l thinking of us to give us peace, hope and a future. And in 1 Timothy 2:3-4, He states that He wants all people to be saved.
I am assuming that the individual, since he didn’t state what his issue is with God in this verse, is accusing God of being insensitive to a person because his genitals have been damaged. I can work with that. If the individual has another issue than what I stated, then he needed to have stopped ranting and communicated.
God is a Holy God. A perfect God. Everything in His presence must be perfect. Sin is imperfection. God cannot stand sin and cannot be in it’s presence.
In the Old Testament, there we’re very strict guidelines and rules set about how to approach and be in God’s presence. This would start from a distance out and get stricter as you got closer to the God. There were ways you had to conduct yourself when in camp. The rules got more rigid when you came inside the Tabernacle or the Temple. Then as you progressed closer to the inner room, everything became more and more strict. And when a sacrifice was given, it was to be perfect without blemish.
I must assume that this an example of how perfect one has to be to be in God’s presence. If one showed other physical defects, they were not to come into the presence of the Lord. This is harsh and had to be demoralizing to individuals that could not enter into the tabernacle or temple because of the defect.
But I have to submit myself to the Lord on this one and take Him at His word (and since He never lies, we can), that He has our best interest in mind. I don’t understand everything the Lord says to do, but I just have to do it and all will go well me. And in this context, the best interest would have included the individual with whom the defect affected also.
Fortunately, because of Christ’s work, we no longer live under the Old Testament and we can approach God no matter how we are, provided we have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior.
As a side note, there are other conditions where you could not approach the Lord. And, as you might have guessed from earlier study in this paper, punishment for not following the rules or guidelines are quite severe.
